Sabah has really been blessed with some of the most beautiful islands and coral reefs. It’s crystal clear waters and exotic aquatic treasures have captivated visitors and divers from all over Asia and from around the world. Listed below are among 4 of the best dive sites of the coast of Sabah.

Sipadan Island – Praised by internationally renowned oceanographer and film maker Jacques Cousteau, Sipadan is rated as one of the best diving spots in the world. Its position puts it in the centre of the richest marine habitat in the world, heart of the Indo Pacific basin. Rising 600 metres from the seabed, it provides spectacular wall dives and underwater gardens. More than 3000 species of fish and coral species have been classified in this rich ecosystem. It is also known for its unusually large number of green and hawkbill turtles which gather there to mate and nest. Another unique feature is the turte tomb which houses many skeletal remains of turtles. Sighting the residential barracudas and big eyed trevally is on every divers wishlist. They tend to form spectacular tornado like formations. Mantas, eagle rays, scalloped hammerhead and whale sharks can also be seen at times.
